Steve Jobs' Last Words

STEVE JOBS
(founder of Apple)
Last Words before he died

“I reached the pinnacle of success in the business world.
In others’ eyes, my life is an epitome of success.
However, aside from work, I have little joy. In the end, wealth is only a fact of life that I am accustomed to.
At this moment, lying on the sick bed and recalling my whole life, I realize that all the recognition and wealth that I took so much pride in, have paled and become meaningless in the face of impending death.
In the darkness, I look at the green lights from the life supporting machines and hear the humming mechanical sounds, I can feel the breath of God and of death drawing closer…
Now I know, when we have accumulated sufficient wealth to last our lifetime, we should pursue other matters that are unrelated to wealth…
Should be something that is more important:
Perhaps relationships, perhaps art, perhaps a dream from younger days …
Non-stop pursuing of wealth will only turn a person into a twisted being, just like me.
God gave us the senses to let us feel the love in everyone’s heart, not the illusions brought about by wealth.
The wealth I have won in my life I cannot bring with me.
What I can bring is only the memories precipitated by love.
That’s the true riches which will follow you, accompany you, giving you strength and light to go on.
Love can travel a thousand miles. Life has no limit. Go where you want to go. Reach the height you want to reach. It is all in your heart and in your hands.
What is the most expensive bed in the world? – “Sick bed”
You can employ someone to drive the car for you, make money for you but you cannot have someone to bear the sickness for you.
Material things lost can be found. But there is one thing that can never be found when it is lost – “Life”.
When a person goes into the operating room, he will realize that there is one book that he has yet to finish reading – “Book of Healthy Life”.
Whichever stage in life we are at right now, with time, we will face the day when the curtain comes down.
Treasure Love for your family, love for your spouse, love for your friends…
Treat yourself well. Cherish others.”

The Spirit of Christmas is the Spirit of Giving

Merry Christmas and a prosperous new year to each of you CTR students and Academic Champions. The word "prosperous" has unique connotations. Initially upon hearing or seeing this word one immediately thinks of temporal wealth such as money and material possessions. The finer definition of the word means being successful, things working out, being fortunate. Therefore, being prosperous applies to large as well as small things, yes, even the smallest things.

Count Your Blessings.

How to Win Friends and Influence People

Six Ways to Make People Like you. If you want people to like you.........

Rule 1: Become genuinely interested in other people.
1) "Do this and you will be welcome anywhere."
2) "You can make more friends in two months by becoming interested in other people than you can in two years by trying to get other people interested in you."
3) "Ask questions to other people, questions that they would enjoy answering."

Rule 2: Smile
1) "Actions speak louder than words, and a smile says, "I like you. You make me happy. I am glad to see you."
2) "You don't feel like smiling? Then force yourself to smile."
3) "It creates happiness in the home, fosters good will in a business, and is the countersign (witness or indication) of friends."

Rule 3: Remember names
1) "A man's name is to him the sweetest and most important sound in any language."
2) "If you don't remember names, you are headed for trouble."

Rule 4: Be a good listener. Encourage others to talk about themselves.
" If you aspire to be a good conversationalist, be an attentive listener."
"Remember that the man you are talking to is a hundred times more interested in himself and his wants and his problems than he is in you and your problems.

Rule 5: Talk in terms of the other man's interest.
"The royal road to a man's heart is to talk to him about the things he treasures most."

Rule 6: Make the other person feel important--and do it sincerely.
John Dewey said, "The desire to be important is the deepest urge in human nature."
"Helping people feel important and appreciated works magic."

From Middle School to High School

HS
High School
Higher Standards

When I was a child in middle school, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child, I acted as a child, and did childish things. Many times I chose the wrong.

But when I became a high school student, I put away childish things and became a young man, a young woman, a CTR Person-I now always Choose the Right.

PERSONAL STATEMENT

(1) I firmly believe that I can achieve wonderful things at the collegiate level if only given the chance to do so. Every day on and off of the soccer field I push myself to be the very best that I can be. Academically, I'm at the top of my class, and I strive for nothing but the very best in each of my classes. Given the chance, I know I could preform well academically while maintaining a high level of play on the soccer pitch.  As an athlete, I maintain that determination and that fire to be the very best at what I do. My expectations for myself and for my teammates around me are extremely high, and I do everything that I can to meet those goals and expectations. I strive to be a leader at church, school, and on the soccer field.

(2) As a person, I have grown up with wonderful examples in my life that have helped me to develop into a man of good character as well as a quality athlete. This allows me to bring the fire and intensity that an athlete needs to be great while maintaining a sense of sportsmanship and respect for my opponents. I respect all of my fellow athletes on and off the field, while fearing none.

(3) Above all else, I know that God has given me all that I have, and he comes first and foremost in my life. I will be serving a mission for my church following my high school graduation, and as a result, I will not be available to play until the fall semester of 2017.
