Academic Champions
Would you like to be a champion quickly? You and
all students can be champions at HPIAM--Academic Champions!
In athletics, there is only one champion such as the wrestling champion, the swimming champion, or the football team champions. Problem is that not all students are on the wrestling team, or the swimming team, or the football team; therefore, if you aren’t on one of the teams, you can’t be a champion…WRONG!
You can be one of the greatest champions of all:
the Academic Champion. All students can be Academic Champions. If all students
work hard and become Academic Champions, then all students tie for first place,
the number 1 position; there is no second place winner because all are winners
and champions.
No matter what your current academic
achievement level is, you can instantly become a member of that elite club, the
Academic Champion Club, by attending school every day, respecting all your
teachers, obeying all the school rules and regulations, and by working super
hard like a Mount Everest Student. Once you become a member of the Academic
Champion Club, you can be a lifetime member by continuing to pursue your
education and seeking to make all A’s. Hard work is the key requirement for
membership in the Academic Champion Club and perpetual hard work keeps your
membership up-to-date.
“If you can DREAM it, you
can DO it."
Walt Disney
Don’t miss out. Join the Academic
Champion Club today and commit to lifetime membership through persistent, hard
work. Be an Academic Champion, NOW, and be the type of champion that matters!

Random Acts of Kindness
Wednesday February 17, 2016
"Kindness is the essence of greatness."
Participate in the National Random Acts of Kindness Day by doing many simple acts of kindness to others. Open the door for someone, pick up someone's dropped book, give someone a hug, write a thank you or appreciation note or send a text message, make a new friend, give sincere compliments, give someone a flower, tell someone you appreciate them, do chores at home without being told, etc.
"When I do good, I feel good. When I do bad, I feel bad."

Enthusiasm
Enthusiasm is having passion, zeal, zest, excitement, interest, and energy. For example, "He did his work with energy and enthusiasm." Constant enthusiasm gets you to the top of the student success pyramid. You feel much better about yourself when you enthusiastically work hard, work smart, and work together with your classmates, teachers and others. Students with lazy bones don't accomplish much.
How do you become enthusiastic? You become enthusiastic by "Acting Enthusiastic." If you act enthusiastic then you will be enthusiastic. Enthusiasm is the major difference between being an Academic Champion or not. Be enthusiastic and Be Great!!
"The longer I live, the more certain I am that enthusiasm is the little recognized key to success."
Frederick Williamson

"I will keep pegging away."
Larry Bird worked so hard. He persisted day-after-day and kept pegging away. For every shot he scored in a game, 1 million practice shots preceded it.

Steve Jobs' Last Words
STEVE JOBS
(founder of Apple)
Last Words before he died
“I reached the pinnacle of success in the business world.
In others’ eyes, my life is an epitome of success.
However, aside from work, I have little joy. In the end, wealth is only a fact of life that I am accustomed to.
At this moment, lying on the sick bed and recalling my whole life, I realize that all the recognition and wealth that I took so much pride in, have paled and become meaningless in the face of impending death.
In the darkness, I look at the green lights from the life supporting machines and hear the humming mechanical sounds, I can feel the breath of God and of death drawing closer…
Now I know, when we have accumulated sufficient wealth to last our lifetime, we should pursue other matters that are unrelated to wealth…
Should be something that is more important:
Perhaps relationships, perhaps art, perhaps a dream from younger days …
Non-stop pursuing of wealth will only turn a person into a twisted being, just like me.
God gave us the senses to let us feel the love in everyone’s heart, not the illusions brought about by wealth.
The wealth I have won in my life I cannot bring with me.
What I can bring is only the memories precipitated by love.
That’s the true riches which will follow you, accompany you, giving you strength and light to go on.
Love can travel a thousand miles. Life has no limit. Go where you want to go. Reach the height you want to reach. It is all in your heart and in your hands.
What is the most expensive bed in the world? – “Sick bed” …
You can employ someone to drive the car for you, make money for you but you cannot have someone to bear the sickness for you.
Material things lost can be found. But there is one thing that can never be found when it is lost – “Life”.
When a person goes into the operating room, he will realize that there is one book that he has yet to finish reading – “Book of Healthy Life”.
Whichever stage in life we are at right now, with time, we will face the day when the curtain comes down.
Treasure Love for your family, love for your spouse, love for your friends…
Treat yourself well. Cherish others.”

The Spirit of Christmas is the Spirit of Giving
Merry Christmas and a prosperous new year to each of you CTR students and Academic Champions. The word "prosperous" has unique connotations. Initially upon hearing or seeing this word one immediately thinks of temporal wealth such as money and material possessions. The finer definition of the word means being successful, things working out, being fortunate. Therefore, being prosperous applies to large as well as small things, yes, even the smallest things.
Count Your Blessings.

How to Win Friends and Influence People
Six Ways to Make People Like you. If you want people to like you.........
Rule 1: Become genuinely interested in other people.
1) "Do this and you will be welcome anywhere."
2) "You can make more friends in two months by becoming interested in other people than you can in two years by trying to get other people interested in you."
3) "Ask questions to other people, questions that they would enjoy answering."
Rule 2: Smile
1) "Actions speak louder than words, and a smile says, "I like you. You make me happy. I am glad to see you."
2) "You don't feel like smiling? Then force yourself to smile."
3) "It creates happiness in the home, fosters good will in a business, and is the countersign (witness or indication) of friends."
Rule 3: Remember names
1) "Do this and you will be welcome anywhere."
2) "You can make more friends in two months by becoming interested in other people than you can in two years by trying to get other people interested in you."
3) "Ask questions to other people, questions that they would enjoy answering."

Rule 3: Remember names
1) "A man's name is to him the sweetest and most important sound in any language."
2) "If you don't remember names, you are headed for trouble."
Rule 4: Be a good listener. Encourage others to talk about themselves.
" If you aspire to be a good conversationalist, be an attentive listener."
"Remember that the man you are talking to is a hundred times more interested in himself and his wants and his problems than he is in you and your problems.
Rule 5: Talk in terms of the other man's interest.
"The royal road to a man's heart is to talk to him about the things he treasures most."
Rule 6: Make the other person feel important--and do it sincerely.
John Dewey said, "The desire to be important is the deepest urge in human nature."
"Helping people feel important and appreciated works magic."
