Jesus Christ established His church in ancient times, and His church was built upon the foundation of apostles and prophets, with Jesus, himself, being the chief cornerstone. The name of His church was "The Church of Jesus Christ."

The Apostle Paul wrote:

19 Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints, and of the household of God;

20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone; (Ephesians 2:19-20)

Today, in modern times, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints has apostles and prophets as its foundation, with Jesus Christ himself being the chief cornerstone.
