The Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota is home to the Oglala Lakota nation — people whose ancestors survived generations of oppression and violence. Today, half live below the poverty line and many go without basics like running water. Life expectancy for Lakota men is 47 and for women is 53, lower than any country in the world.
