Learning from the Lord's Prayer

Prayer is a way to communicate with your Father in Heaven. Pray daily and sincerely.

The four steps of prayer include:

1. Our Father in Heaven

2. I thank thee.... [Thank Him for specific blessings and things you are thankful for]

3. I ask thee....[Ask for His help. Plead with Him. Confide in Him. Talk with Him. Pour out your heart to Him. Tell Him how you really feel. Council with Him in all your doings on any topic.  Ask Him to guide and direct you. Ask Him to bless and help other people and mention their specific names. Be completely honest and sincere with Him]

4. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

"All things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive."
(Matthew 21:22)

"Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them." (Mark 11:24)

Jesus teaches His disciples the correct manner of prayer and offers the Lord's Prayer. Matthew 6:1-13 1 Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven.

2 Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

3 But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth:

4 That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly.

5 ¶And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet , and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret ; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

7 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions , as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.

8 Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.

9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name .

10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

11 Give us this day our daily bread .

12 And forgive us our debts , as we forgive our debtors.

Awesome: A Special Horse named Prince

I saw and heard Dr. Timothy J. Dyches share this inspiring story, and I am anxious to share it with you.  

Deeply study this inspiring story as told by Timothy J. Dyches about his grandfather and horse named Prince. Now for the story: 

Late one fall, Grandpa was alone in the high mountains. Winter had already shown its face when he saddled one of his favorite horses, old Prince, and rode to a sawmill to scale and measure logs before they could be sawed into lumber.

At dusk, he finished his work and climbed back into the saddle. By then, the temperature had plummeted, and a fierce winter snowstorm was engulfing the mountain. With neither light nor path to guide him, he turned Prince in a direction he thought would lead them back to the ranger station. 

After traveling miles in the dark, Prince slowed, then stopped. Grandpa repeatedly urged Prince forward, but the horse refused. With blinding snow swirling around them, Grandpa realized he needed God’s help. As he had done throughout his life, he humbly “ask[ed] in faith, nothing wavering.” A still, small voice answered, “Milo, give Prince his head.” Grandpa obeyed, and as he lightened his hold on the reins, Prince swung around and plodded off in a different direction. Hours later, Prince again halted and lowered his head. Through the driving snow, Grandpa saw that they had safely arrived at the gate of the ranger station.

With the morning sun, Grandpa retraced the faint tracks of Prince in the snow. He drew a deep breath when he found where he had given Prince his head: it was the very brink of a lofty mountain cliff, where a single step forward would have plunged both horse and rider to their deaths in the rugged rocks below.

Based on that experience and many others, Grandpa counseled, “The best and greatest partner you will ever have is your Father in Heaven.” When my dad would relate Grandpa’s story, I remember that he would quote from the scriptures:

“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

“In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”

When you are obedient, choose the right, you will experience peace, joy, and freedom to go where you desire and do as you desire. When you CTR, you are living on the CTR Path, and the CTR Path is the Freedom Path.

When you jump off the CTR Path and land onto the CTW Path, that's when freedom stops, and frustrations start. If you have stepped off the CTR path, Stop! Jump quickly back onto the CTR path. CTR decisions will have short-term and long-term advantages. CTW decisions will have short-term and long-term disadvantages.
