Blessed Are They That Have Not Seen, and Yet Have Believed

Thomas, one of the Twelve, doubts the appearance of the risen Lord. Christ appears and tells him, “Blessed are those who have not seen, and yet have believed.” John 20: 24-29 24 But Thomas, one of the twelve, called Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came. 25 The other disciples therefore said unto him, We have seen the Lord. But he said unto them, Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe. 26 And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you. 27 Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing. 28 And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God. 29 Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.

Oh, May My Soul Commune with Thee | The Tabernacle Choir

Lyrics

  1. 1. Oh, may my soul commune with thee

    And find thy holy peace;

From worldly care and pain of fear,

    Please bring me sweet release.

  2. 2. Oh, bless me when I worship thee

To keep my heart in tune,

That I may hear thy still, small voice,

    And, Lord, with thee commune.

  3. 3. Enfold me in thy quiet hour

    And gently guide my mind

To seek thy will, to know thy ways,

    And thy sweet Spirit find.

  4. 4. Lord, grant me thy abiding love

    And make my turmoil cease.

Oh, may my soul commune with thee

    And find thy holy peace.

Presidents Day - George Washington's Birthday

Washington's Birthday is a United States federal holiday celebrated on the third Monday of February in honor of George Washington, the first President of the United States. It is also commonly known as Presidents Day. As Washington's Birthday or Presidents Day, it is also the official name of a concurrent state holiday celebrated on the same day in a number of states.Titled Washington's Birthday, a federal holiday honoring George Washington was originally implemented by an Act of Congress in 1879 for government offices in the District of Columbia (20 Stat. 277) and expanded in 1885 to include all federal offices (23 Stat. 516). As the first federal holiday to honor an American citizen, the holiday was celebrated on Washington's actual birthday, February 22. On January 1, 1971, the federal holiday was shifted to the third Monday in February by the Uniform Monday Holiday Act. This date places it between February 15 and 21, which makes the name "Washington's Birthday" in some sense a misnomer, since it always falls between Washington's Old Style birthday, Febrauary 11, and New Style February 22

The Risen Lord Jesus Christ Appears to the Apostles

The resurrected Christ appears to the Apostles and tells them, “Peace be unto you.” They touch His hands and feet and He eats with them. He tells them He will send them as His Father sent Him. Luke 24:36-41, 44-49 36 And as they thus spake, Jesus himself stood in the midst of them, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you. 37 But they were terrified and affrighted, and supposed that they had seen a spirit. 38 And he said unto them, Why are ye troubled? and why do thoughts arise in your hearts? 39 Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have. 40 And when he had thus spoken, he shewed them his hands and his feet. 41 And while they yet believed not for joy, and wondered, he said unto them, Have ye here any meat? 44 And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me. 45 Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures, 46 And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: 47 And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. 48 And ye are witnesses of these things. 49 And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high. John 20:21 21 Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you.

The Lord My Pasture Will Prepare --The Tabernacle Choir

Lyrics

  1. 1. The Lord my pasture will prepare

And feed me with a shepherd’s care.

His presence will my want supply

And guard me with a watchful eye.

My noonday walks he will attend

And all my silent midnight hours defend.

  2. 2. When in the sultry glebe I faint,

Or on the thirsty mountain pant,

To fertile vales and dewy meads

My weary, wand’ring steps he leads,

Where peaceful rivers, soft and slow,

Amid the cooling verdant landscape flow.

Text: Joseph Addison, 1672–1719
