Shop 'till you drop!

CSD stands for compulsive shopping disorder which is characterized by extreme or poorly controlled preoccupations, urges or behaviors concerning shopping and spending, which leads to unpleasant consequences. They shop on urge as a way of coping and find it difficult to control their spending or shopping behaviors. Shopping condition often starts in the late teens to early twenties, and the disorder is generally chronic. Two or more psychiatric or physical illness are frequent, particularly mood, anxiety, eating and personality disorders. What do you think, is it an addiction or a mental disorder?

  1. I think its more like a mental disorder. Because its like any other disorder its all in your head and its as serious as any other. People with this kind of disorder should get mental help because its not healthy.

  2. well, i think this is a addiction. Kind of like drugs. They say they could stop but, they can't really stop at all. I guess they need some help on getting out of this problem. And it will help them after that. But, it will take time to get there.

  4. i think that it is an addiction because its not a mental disorder because you know what you are doing. i think that it has to be an addiction of the things that you want to have to fit in or to look like you have a lot of money. that is why i think that it is a addiction that you urge the shopping and that you feel that you must have no matter what.

  5. I think that there is a point in life that all you want to do is what you really want to do. I think that for some people, shopping is one of them. I think that shopping a lot is not a mental disorder, i believe that it's an addiction. I think that people start getting addicted to shopping once they start working and they start seeing all of their money. I think that the people that are addicted to shopping decide to spend all of their money when they go shopping.

  7. I think it can be a bit of both, depending on the person's situation. I suppose that shopping and spending gives you a temporary rush that serves as relief. People find what makes them feel better and they do it. It doesn't necessarily have to be shopping, it can be anything. . . I'm not entirely sure it would classify as a mental disorder so much as it would an addiction.

  8. What i thing about this statement is that there's allot of girls that do that, they always like to go shopping in waist all of the money. That a disorder for shopping, There not that much boys that do that. That biggest problem is the woman.

  9. I THINK THAT WE SHOULD HAVE A LIMIT ON HOW MUCH MONEY TO SPEND WHEN WE SHOP. WE SHOULD ALSO NOW ON HOW TO SPEND MONEY ON. THINK IF ITS WORTH IT TO BUY WHAT WE ARE GOING TO BUY.

the reason why i think this is because you know what you are doing.

  11. I think its an addiction. Like most girls love shopping. I agree with their being unpleasent consequences. Such as going broke and not having money for other important necessities. Like things you'll really need. I think retail therapy has a lot to do with this, shopping makes a lot of us girls happy and feel better when ere feeling bad about something.

  12. It's both. Its up to that person to try to stop what they are doing. It shows they have no control of what they are doing. No control of their own body or in control of nothing if this person has these kind of problems. You just have to stop and try to make the most after what you have done.

  14. I think its an addiction. It is not a mental disorder because the person knows what they are doing. I think the people that are addicted just buy because they want more things. Some people don't even need the things they buy, but they buy it because they just think they do.

  15. i think this is an addiction because when your at the mall you pass by a store and you see an cute outfit you just say i got to have but really you do not need it. you just spend money on what you do not need. spend money on wht u truly need.

  16. shopping is not a bad thing sometimes. i mean you want to buy all the good things you want to buy. but don't go too much shopping because it might turn out bad.you will sped all your money without thinking and you some important stuff when you need it. so cut back on the shopping a little and save your money so that you can use it when you need to. 18. I think that this an addiction. But it all starts in the head. Many people say they are addicted, but use that as an excuse to keep on doing it. This is choosing the wrong. When you accept your mistake of addiction, you have to overcome it, not keep doing it.
