Alcatraz - The Rock - The Hole
"A day in the hole was like an eternity."
Alcatraz, also known as "The Rock," is one of the most famous prisons in the United States. For over 30 years it held some of the most notorious prisoners and over the years since, it has become a cultural icon. The park is now run by the National Park Service.
There were approximately 1576 prisoners in total which were held at Alcatraz during its time as a Federal Penitentiary, between 1934 to 1963. Why were they in prison? You are right! They chose the wrong and paid the penalty for doing so.
