Jordan Romero from Big Bear, California, scaled the 8,850 meter (29,035 feet) summit from the Tibetan side, on the same day a Nepali man broke his own world record for the most number of successful Everest attempts.
"The team has just called in and confirmed that they are standing on top of Mt. Everest," Romero's blog said.
"Their dreams have now come true. Everyone sounded unbelievably happy."
The ascent has put Romero one step closer to reaching his goal of climbing the highest mountains on all seven continents.
"It is just a goal," Romero had told Reuters in the Nepali capital Kathmandu in April. He had already climbed five peaks including Mount Kilimanjaro in Africa, and needs to climb only Vinson Massif, the highest peak in Antarctica to hit his target.
The previous youngest person to summit Everest was 16-year-old Temba Tsheri Sherpa of Nepal.
Romero was accompanied by a team including his father Paul, a critical care paramedic, and Sherpa guides. He told Reuters wanted to pick a small piece of rock from the top of the world as a memento and wear it in a necklace.
His next mission is to climb the highest mountains in all 50 states in the United States.
More than 4,000 climbers have reached the top of Mount Everest since it was first climbed by New Zealander Sir Edmund Hillary and Nepal's Tenzing Norgay Sherpa in 1953.
Nepali mountaineer Apa Sherpa broke his own record and climbed Mount Everest for the 20th time, said Ang Tshering Sherpa, chief of the Asian Trekking Agency.
Apa, 50, who lives in the United States, reached the summit on Saturday along the Southeast Ridge route. He carried a banner all the way to the summit to raise awareness of the environmental impact of climate change on the Himalayas.
"It is a fantastic achievement by one individual," said Elizabeth Hawley, who chronicles major climbs in the Himalayan mountain range. "Going back year after year after year and succeeding each time is really amazing."

This here is an example of bravery. This young boy had a lot of courage and magnificent confidence. Im sure the first thing he did was dream and set his goal to climbing Mount Everest. This is the perfect example for one to reflect upon and think; if he could do it, so can I.

This quote inspires me a lot. It is telling me that if you don't have courage in your life then you will not have a great life. your life will shrink. for example, the boy who climbed Mount Everest had the courage to climb it. So if you don't have courage your life will shrink and you won't live it well...

I agree with this quote.Your lifes porportion is determined by your self courage.If u have no courage you have little things going on in life.If u have alot of courage you willl have many things going on in the present and your future.Courage is one of the c's you need.
This quote is very encouraging. I like this quote because life expands if you have confidence and if you don't you'll shrink your courage. For example, to expand your courage you need to be confident so you can achieve your goals.

It takes courage to do pretty much anything. It takes courage to accomplish your goals. So I think everyone should have courage and do what they believe in. For example I think that the 13 year old boy who climbed mount everest had a lot of courage and he reached his goal. This proves that you can really accomplish your goals. It just takes courage.

Having courage is what makes your life exciting. if you don't have courage then you will never take chances in life and you might miss a chance to do something great. i think that what this kid did is very extreme. He's an example that anyone can have the courage to do something great in their life times. this shows where courage can putting your mind to it can take you in life. Having Courage is a very important thing to have in life that will help you reach your goals and accomplish what ever it is you want.

well i agree this boy that having the courage to go up mountain Everest.
He is also the youngest boy to climb this mountain. Jordan compiled his dream but someone was there to help amazing.
I think this quote means that if you have the courage you can expand in proportion. Like if you set the bar high for your self you can do anything you want in life, just like the 13-year-old American boy Jordan Romero how climbed Mount Everest.
