I guess what this quote by McKay means that good character is a vital priority when it comes to success. You have to get along with others, because someday you may need help and if you have the worst attitude ever you and your pride will go no where. Thats why its always good to be open minded as well. it all comes in a chain; if you're good then you'll get help. If you have a good idea of what you want in life and with a positive attitude you'll get nothing more but success.

Character matters above all else for a person. You can achieve all different kind of wonders in this world if you have a great character. Though, if you have a bad character you will end up in the gutter and have a lousy life. All the great people in history that have made a positive impact on this world have had a good character. Education not only makes you a very well educated person,it also makes you a better person.For example,people who drop out are known not to have manners at the table,while educated people know how to behave when visitors are in the house.Your character is important to be successful in life.So work on your character as well becuase it will make an honest person out of you.
I think David O. McKay really got the point on the of true education and the ways of it. I do think that history and literature are means that used to be accomplish desired. The character is something that is one part of being educated person that well perform well in and out of the class room. The man and women prize true, justice, self-control, pride and respect are the key to being a successful in life. So I do agree and like what David O. I agree because Character is what educates you to be a better person. having good character will always take you farther than having bad character. I also agree that modern education teaches so little about the elements of having true character. I think this is not good because students will grow up not having a good character. without true character, students will not succeed as much as someone who does have the true character.
